Inclusive Education

An inclusive education system is a way of thinking and acting that demonstrates acceptance of, and belonging for, all students - regardless of their backgrounds, needs or abilities. It is founded on the belief that all children can learn and reach their full potential given opportunity, effective teaching and appropriate resources. Inclusive learning is more than just placement of a student - it is about participating, belonging, being engaged in the learning process, and being welcomed and embraced in the classroom.

Opportunity Program

Our district offers different classrooms within our Opportunity Program that are grouped to allow for students who have been diagnosed with  mild, moderate or severe intellectual disabilities to receive adapted programming based on their level of need.  This allows for the teachers and support staff to be able to provide individualized and small group instruction in the areas of literacy, numeracy, engagement and life skills that are appropriate for the student’s academic, social and physical development. This program is for students in Grades 3-6.
