Our Namesake

Robert Rundle was one of Alberta's first teachers. He was one of four Methodist missionaries sent from England in 1840 to establish missions in what we now call Alberta. He worked extensively with pioneers and Indigenous people, teaching them English and syllabic writing. Mr. Rundle taught at Fort Edmonton and also convened a temporary school in Lesser Slave Lake. He leaves behind a large legacy - Mount Rundle in Banff National Park, Rundle's Mission in Pigeon Lake, Rundle Park in Edmonton and our school all carry his name.
